Covid-19

Tá comhairle nua tagtha ó na húdaráis sláinte an tseachtain seo (9 Nollaig 2022) ag meabhrú dúinn go bhfuil víris eile seachas Covid-19 ag scaipeadh go forleathan anois agus go bhfuil sé tábhachtach fanacht sa bhaile má tá aon chomharthaí tinnis ort. Sna scoileanna ach go háirtithe, níor chóir do pháistí a bheith seolta ar scoil le teocht, casacht, sróin ag rith srl. Tá súil againn gur féidir srian a chur le scaipeadh na víris seo leis an gcur chuige sláinteachais céanna lena sháraíomar an ghéarchéim Covid-19.

ComhairleFSSNollaig22.jpg

Tá sé fógartha ag an rialtas go bhfuil deireadh leis na srianta ar fad ar scoil ón lá inniu amach. Mar sin, níl aon ghá masc a chaitheamh a thuilleadh i Rang 3 - Rang 6 agus beimid ag déanamh athbhreithniú ar na hathraithe eile ar fad a bhí curtha i bhfeidhm le dhá bhliain anuas, sna seachtainí agus sna míonna romhainn. Tá súil againn go bhfuil deireadh leis an drochthionchar a bhí ag an Covid ar shaol na scoile ach beimid aireach fós i dtaobh sláinte na ndaltaí agus na foirne agus leanfaimid mar sin leis an nós gan teacht ar scoil nuair atá tinneas orainn.

Tá an scoil fíorbhuíoch as bhur gcuid tacaíochta agus as bhur gcuid tuisceana le dhá bhliain anuas.

Seo an leathanach ar a choimeádfar gach eolas, comhairle agus treoracha ón scoil fad is atáimid ag obair faoi scáth na paindéime.

Tá rialacha nua le cur i bhfeidhm as seo amach (2 Nollaig 2021) maidir le mascanna a chaitheamh sna hardranganna. Seo cóip den litir a sheol an Príomh-Oifigeach Leighis chugaibh an tseachtain seo agus seo cóip de na treoracha a tháinig ón Roinn Oideachais ina theannta. Tá póstaer eolais nua foilsithe freisin a mhíníonn conas na mascanna a úsáid agus pléifear é seo le na daltaí ar scoil.

Más rud é nach féidir le daltaí áirithe mascanna a chaitheamh ba chóir é sin a bheith ardaithe leis an bhfoireann agus is féidir díolúine a thabhairt má tá litir ón dochtúir ag rá go bhfuil gá lena leithéid.

Tá na rialacha maidir le srianta gluaiseachta athraithe arís aréir (16 Samhain) de réir na meáin, agus mar sin má tá cás deimhnithe Covid-19 sa teach ag aon duine, caithfidh an teaghlach ar fad srianta a chur lena ngluaiseachtaí go dtí go bhfuil 3 triail aintigin déanta acu agus toradh diúltach acu thar 5 lá. Caithfear na treoirlínte a thagann ó na húdaráis sláinte a leanúint go beacht má tharlaíonn a leithéid.

Tá comhairle nua eisithe ag an Roinn Oideachais maidir le scoileanna agus iad athoscailte anois don scoilbhliain nua. Tá an chomhairle ar fad le léamh anseo, ach tá achoimre air sa mhéad a leanann.

  • tabhair fá ndeara go bhfuil an liosta comharthaí Covid-19 níos leithne anois ná mar a bhí roimh Samhradh.
  • Is iad na comharthaí anois ná giorra anála, casacht nua gan míniú eile, teocht ard nó athrú boladh nó blas, srón ag rith nó blocáilte, pianta nó tuirse, scórnach tinn, nó tinneas cinn.

Tá 9 monatóirí CO2 seolta ag an Roinn chugainn agus 5 cinn breise ceannaithe ag an scoil agus tá siad curtha sna seomraí ranga príomhsrutha ar fad. Tá siad an-simplí le n-úsáid agus tá a fhios ag an bhfoireann cad atá le déanamh nuair a léiríonn siad go bhfuil gá le haerú a dhéanamh ar an seomra ina bhfuil siad.

treoir sa bhreis tagtha ón Roinn inniu (24 Meán Fómhair) ag fógairt go mbeidh deireadh leis an gcleachtas rianú teagmhálaithe a dhéanamh i ranganna príomhshrutha ón Luan seo chugainn (27 Meán Fómhair). Mar sin, ní sheolfar daltaí abhaile a thuilleadh ón scoil ach amháin sa chás go bhfuil comharthaí an víris (féach thuas) á léiriú acu. Leanfar leis an gcleachtas sláinteachais reatha don gheimhreadh romhainn agus le cúnamh Dé ní thiocfaidh aon cásanna chugainn. An rud is tábhachtaí gur féidir le gach duine a dhéanamh chun é seo a chinntiú ná fanacht sa bhaile nuair atá comharthaí an víris orthu.

Tá ár Ráiteas um Pholasaí Covid-19 le feiceáil anseo.

Tá ár bplean fillte chun scoile le feiceáil anseo.

Tá póstaeir eolas crochta ar fud na scoile ar mhaithe le daltaí agus an fhoireann a chur ar an eolas maidir le dea-chleachtas sláinteachais. Tá na póstaeir seo ar fad le feiceáil anseo.

Seo hiad na cásanna gur chóir páistí nó baill foirne fanacht sa bhaile.
  • Dár ndóigh má tá cás deimhnithe i do theaghlach (a chónaíonn leat), ná tar ar scoil.
  • Má tá na comharthaí ort (giorra anála, casacht nua gan míniú eile, teocht ard nó athrú boladh nó blas, srón ag rith nó blocáilte, pianta nó tuirse, scórnach tinn, nó tinneas cinn) fan sa bhaile agus cuir glaoch ar do dhochtúir.
  • Má tá na comharthaí (giorra anála, casacht nua gan míniú eile, teocht ard nó athrú boladh nó blas, srón ag rith nó blocáilte, pianta nó tuirse, scórnach tinn, nó tinneas cinn) ar duine i do theaghlach (a chónaíonn leat) fan sa bhaile agus cuir glaoch ar an dochtúir.
  • Má tá tú ag fanacht ar thoradh tástála tú féin, ná tar ar scoil.
  • Fiú má tá duine i do theaghlach (a chónaíonn leat) ag fanacht ar thorthaí tástála, ná tar ar scoil go dtí go bhfuil toradh diúltach faighte acu.
  • Fiú sa chás go bhfuil dochtúir i ndiaidh a rá leat, nó le duine i do theaghlach (a chónaíonn leat) dul chun tástáil a fháil, ach níl an tástáil déanta fós agat, arís, fan sa bhaile go dtí go bhfuil toradh diúltach faighte.
An dara cheist faoi Covid-19 atá ag teacht go rialta ná cathain gur chóir dúinn páistí a sheoladh abhaile, agus cén idirdhealú ar chóir a dhéanamh ar chásanna Covid-19 agus gnáth tinnis nó rúitíní casta srl?
  • Caithfear páiste a sheoladh abhaile le cás amhrasta Covid-19 má tá na comharthaí thuasluaite (giorra anála, casacht nua gan míniú eile, teocht ard nó athrú boladh nó blas, srón ag rith nó blocáilte, pianta nó tuirse, scórnach tinn, nó tinneas cinn) acu.
  • Má sheoltar páiste abhaile faoin amhras seo beidh orthu fanacht sa seomra leithlise faoi chúram Mháire agus iarrfar ar na tuistí glaoch láithreach a chur ar a ndochtúir clainne.
  • Mar sin, nílimid ag iarraidh é seo a dhéanamh ach nuair nach bhfuil aon rogha againn.
  • Ciallaíonn sé seo nach gá gach páiste a dheireann go bhfuil pian sa bholg nó tinneas cinn orthu. Is minic nach bhfuil i gceist le seo ach tinneas scoile.
  • Leanfaimid na gnáth nósanna faoi pháistí a sheoladh abhaile de bharr timpistí ar an gclós srl, sé sin, déanfar gach iarracht iad a choimeád ar scoil más féidir leo go deireadh an lae.

Tá na treoirlínte thuas tógtha ón Isolation Quick Guide agus an Assessment and Testing Pathway foilsithe ag hpsc.ie

Má tá aon cheist faoin mhéid seo, seol go oifig@gaelscoilim.ie iad le bhur dtoil.

New advice has been issued from the health authorities this week (9 December 2022) reminding us that many other viruses other than Covid-19 are criculating at present and that it is important to remain at home if you are experiencing any signs of illness. In schools in particular, children should not be sent into school will temperatures, coughs, running noses etc. We hope that we can overcome these viruses by following the same hygiene practices that saw us through the Covid-19 crisis.

The government has announced that all of the restrictions on school life are to end as of today (28 February 2022). Therefore, it is no longer mandatory to wear masks in Rang 3 - Rang 6 and we will be reviewing all of the other changes we implemented for the last two years, in the weeks and months ahead. We hope that we have seen the end of the malign influence of Covid on school life but we will remain vigilant regarding the health of the pupils and the staff and so we will continue with the practise of staying at home when we are sick.

The school really appreciates all your support and understanding for the past two years.

This is the page on which all information, advice and directions from the school so long as we are working during the pandemic.

There are new rules to be implemented from now on (2nd December 2021) regarding the wearing of masks in the senior classes. Here is a copy of the letter sent by the Chief Medical Officer this week and here is a copy of the instructions from the Department of Education that came with it. A new information poster has also been published explaining how to used the masks and this will be discussed with the children in school.

If it is the case that certain children cannot wear masks this should be raised with the school and an exemption can be made if a letter from a doctor to that effect is sent in to the school.

The rules regarding restriction of movement have changed again as of last night (16 November) according to media reports, and so now if there is a confirmed case in the house, the whole household must restrict their movements for 5 days until they have conducted three antigen tests and received negative results. The directions from the health authorities must be followed if such a case occurs.

New advice has been issued by the Dept of Education regarding the safe reopening of schools for the school year ahead. That advice can be read here, but it is summarised in what follows.

  • Please note that the list of symtoms is now more extensive than was the case before summer.
  • the list of symptoms now include shortness of breath, a new and unexplained cough, a high temperature or a change in the sense of taste or smell, a runny or a blocked nose, aches or tiredness, a sore throat, or a headache.

The Department of Education have sent us 9 CO2 monitors and the school purchased another 5 and they have been placed in the all of the mainstream classrooms in the school. They are very easy to use and the staff know what to do if they indicate that the room in which they are placed needs to be ventilated.

Further guidelines have been issued by the Department today (24th September) announcing that the practice of contact tracing in mainstream classrooms is to cease from this Monday coming (27th September). Therefore, pupils will no longer be sent home from school except in the case that they are showing symptoms of the virus (see above). The current hygiene practices will be maintained for the winter ahead and hopefully that will keep the virus from the school. The most important part everyone can play in this is to stay at home if they have any symptoms of the virus.

Our Covid-19 Policy Statement can be accessed here.

Our return to school plan can be accessed here.

Information posters have been posted all over the school in order to inform pupils and staff alike as to recommended hygiene practices. The posters can all be seen here.

These are the circumstances in which a child or staff member should stay at home.
  • Of course, if there is a confirmed case in the household, stay at home.
  • If you have symptoms (shortness of breath, a new and unexplained cough, a high temperature or a change in the sense of taste or smell, a runny or a blocked nose, aches or tiredness, a sore throat, or a headache) please stay at home and ring your doctor.
  • If anyone in your household has symptoms (shortness of breath, a new and unexplained cough, a high temperature or a change in the sense of taste or smell, a runny or a blocked nose, aches or tiredness, a sore throat, or a headache) please stay at home and ring the doctor.
  • If you are awaiting test results yourself, don't come to school, until a negative result has been confirmed.
  • Even if someone in your household is awaiting test results, don't come to school, until a negative result has been confirmed.
  • Even if your doctior has referred you (or someone in your household) for a test, but the test has not yet been done, then you should still stay at home until a negative result has been confirmed.
The second question that is frequently asked regarding Covid-19 is when we should send a child home from school and what distinction should be made between a suspected Covid-19 case and the normal illnesses, twisted ankles etc?
  • Children must be sent home with suspected Covid-19 if they present with the above mentioned symptoms (shortness of breath, a new and unexplained cough, a high temperature or a change in the sense of taste or smell, a runny or a blocked nose, aches or tiredness, a sore throat, or a headache).
  • If a child is to be sent home for this reason they will wait in the isolation room under the supervision of Máire and parents will be asked to make an urgent appointment with their doctor.
  • We don't want to do this unless there is absolutely no alternative.
  • For this reason, we can not send home every child who reports a headache or a pain in their stomach. Children often reports such minor ailments which are quickly forgotten about.
  • We will follow our usual procedures in the case of children with minor injuries on the clós etc, in that we will make every effort to keep them in school until the end of the day.

If there are any questions regarding the above, please send them to oifig@gaelscoilim.ie .

The above guidelines are taken from the Isolation Quick Guide and the Assessment and Testing Pathway published by hpsc.ie.
